Callistemon, commonly known as Bottlebrush due to its distinctive floral shape, gained popularity soon after European settlement and Crimson Bottlebrush (Callistemon citrinus) was introduced to Britain by Joseph Banks in 1789. Bottlebrushes make excellent and hardy garden shrubs, with their spectacular flowers being irresistible to nectar-feeding birds and insects.
