The delicate Flannel Flower (Actinotus helianthi) is so named because of the soft woolly feel of the plant. Growing along the east coast of Australia, its pink or white flowers bloom for most of the year, with an extra burst of colour in the spring. Interestingly this herbaceous shrub, despite its daisy-like appearance, it is not a member of the daisy family but rather a species of the Apiaceae family - the same family as the carrot!
