Endemic to Western Australia, Hakea laurina is a shrub or small tree commonly known as the Pin-cushion Hakea or 'kodjet' in Noongar language. It has spectacular red and cream conspicuous globular flowers beautifully offset by blue-green lance shaped leaves. A popular ornamental and shading street tree, it is adaptable to a number of soil types, and tolerant of frost. In the language of flowers, symbolises nobility and longevity.
